Good coding and maths skills are invaluable.
Keep your options open and don’t aim for a single career early on. You may see yourself as being a professor of astrophysics now, but during your degree you might realise you have more of an affinity for solid state physics and would be happier in a company lab doing experiments than teaching.
Try to develop a good work ethic and mental health balance, you have to be very self motivated if you peruse a research career.
