Seeing sun spots and other features on the sun moving around in real time is amazing! I’ve seen the planet Saturn through my telescope, too, which is so very cool being able to see it’s rings.
At work, it’s really cool seeing the things I design turn on for the first time and work just how I planned. Really satisfying 😀
At University I got to use a telescope to look at Supernovae (dying stars). They burst really bright in the sky and using them we get to work out some really interesting things about our Universe like how old it is!
Some of the equipment I’ve worked with is pretty staggering! I’ve worked with the 45 Tesla magnet in Talahassee which is the size of a small building and consumes as much power as a small city. It’s quite a feat of engineering
