• Question: What is the range of areas of physics that you can venture into with an astrophysics qualification?

      Lots of areas! I went from a Physics and Astrophysics degree to a PhD in Particle Physics, and I know people who went from an Astro degree to biophysics, solid state and all sorts of areas.
      When applying for PhD’s etc in a different area than your degree, it can be a little tougher. But rarely can you take an undergraduate degree in a particular research area, so you’ll cover a lot of the material you would need in your Bachelors/Masters degrees anyway.

      The main benefit of a physics degree is the level of problem solving ability you obtain. That’s what makes physicists so employable, and it’s what we’re good at. Specifically what modules you take within a physics degree is less important than the skills you learn while doing so
