I can’t say I always wanted to be an oceanographer, mainly because I didn’t know that such jobs existed when I was in school. But now that it is my job, I think most of it is pretty much perfect for me.

It wasn’t when I was in school. It took me a while to realise I wanted to study physics, and then it took me a while to realise I wanted to do a PhD. I wanted to be an artist when I was sixteen! The reality is that I don’t really enjoy art when I have to do it, so it’s a bad career choice for me. Being a physicist is my current dream job, and I feel very lucky that I get to do exactly what I want to do. I don’t like it all the time, and maybe I’ll have a new dream job one day, but right now it’s perfect!
