• Question: I live a mile away from Daresbury Laboratories which has a particle accelerator ive heard its quite famous have you heard of it?

      Yes, Daresbury was the location of the SRS, which was the first synchrotron light source ever built in the world. That accelerator has since been retired, and replaced by Diamond Light Source in Oxfordshire which is where I work. The Daresbury Laboratory still does research in particle physics, and has a few smaller accelerators which are used to test advanced ideas that might be used in the future.
