We have a pretty good idea of how the Earth was created. Space is full of big clouds of gas and dust. As they float around the place, sometimes parts become dense enough that their gravity starts pulling big clumps into one place. Most of this will end up falling into the centre of the clump, and once enough of it gathers there the conditions get hot and dense enough to start nuclear fusion and a star forms. Some of the dust doesn’t fall right into the middle, but instead ends up forming a disc around the star. Over time, collisions between the little bits of gas and dust cause it all to start sticking together, and this eventually forms planets, along with smaller things like asteroids and comets. The planets mostly collect up all dust left over nearby, while the solar wind blows the rest of it away from the star, so we don’t see much of the original dusty disc left over.
