• Question: Have you done any experiments,if so what experiments have you done?

      I am a theoretician so do not do experiments, but I try and explain the outcomes of experiments using theoretical physics and more importantly predict the outcomes of experiments that experimentalists have not done yet!

      I work on observations so I mainly look at data sets in my research, I spend most of my time on a computer! That being said, when I do outreach we do lot of experiments with iron filings, plasma balls, and magnets.

    My job is all experiments 😀 I run a piece of a particle accelerator, plus I have a couple of labs to try things out away from the main machine. I’ve built and played with pretty much every kind of equipment on an accelerator: magnets, vacuum, radio-frequency cavities, ion sources, plasmas, lasers, diagnostics, electronics, high voltage, optics… It’s all great fun planning experiments and seeing whether the results match your expectations, or whether new exciting things pop up to surprise you!
