I spend my days in the laboratory putting wires connected to electricity under water and oxygen bubbles. Very special equipment is needed so don’t do that at home. Contamination is my biggest enemy as they kill my nanoparticles so I have to spend two days cleaning the white cell with corrosive acids. One time I dropped the cell on the floor after spending two days cleaning it so I had to do it again!

My Typical Day:
I wake up, have a nice quick soup for breakfast as I am late for the bus, then get to work and check a few e-mails for about 30 minutes. Then I jump in the lab where everything is ready for some measurements and spend the entire day between reading scientific articles, fixing problems when experiments go wrong and celebrating with a dance when experiments go well.

I work in a three year project where the main tasks that are to be done are: laboratory experiments, writing a thesis dissertation, travelling to science conferences and visit other laboratories where collaborators work. I also have to read a lot of scientific articles which help me to frame my work in a larger scientific field and to know which researchers I would like to contact when I travel to conferences.
