I live in Halesowen, near Birmingham with my wife and two daughters, we also have a dog named Jasper, and a rabbit named Chase…yes, my daughters like Paw Patrol!
My eldest daughter is autistic, so we home educate our daughters. We actually found this to be the best decision we made because we can be there and see all the progress and new and amazing ideas they come up with.
I’ve always loved finding out how things worked and have been designing machines, decides and contraptions since before I can remember. I especially enjoy electronics and telecommunications. My degree was a wierd mix. I combined all the things I like to do, so I did aerospace engineering for a year, then moved onto Physics and Earth Sciences for another year before settling on mechanical and Automotive engineering to graduate with.
I then got a role with Jaguar Land Rover, in their Hybrids department, which had only just been set up, and following a shortened Grad scheme was promoted to Lead Engineer, responsible for the power electronics.
I worked for another 6 years with JLR, and then started my own consulting business, which is what I do now. I have worked on many components including electric machines, batteries, power electronics, instrument clusters and seats.
When I’m not working I am a first responder with the Ambulance service, or I’m spending time in our caravan in Wales with the rest of the family. W
I get time to go flying I take it, but the UK weather is not always great, and families take up lots of time, but when the girls are old enough I’ll take them up. I also enjoy music, I have a wide range of music I like, but rock is very high on the list.
